The Warren House - Jonesboro

Location:

102 West Mimosa

Jonesboro, GA 30236

Jonesboro is located a short distance south of Atlanta, between State Routes 75 and 85. It also happens to be the fictional setting of Margaret Mitchell’s Tara Plantation, from the book Gone With the Wind. The rural area is nothing if not peaceful - in the daylight. At night, it seems that the spirits come out, and with several hundred reputed haunted locations, places and spots surrounding Jonesboro, the town has apparently become quite the place for ghostly, spiritual, and paranormal activity.

The Warren House is located in Jonesboro. During the Civil War, the Warren House was used as a headquarters by the 52nd Illinois Regiment, and was also converted into a makeshift hospital. Many recuperating and convalescing soldiers carved their names into the walls there.

For many years following the war, cannonballs were found throughout the property, and the house and surrounding trees were riddled with bullets. It is said that at night, apparitions of soldiers can be seen. One of these soldiers is looking out the window while holding a candle. Numerous visitors to the property have claimed to see this particular apparition.
